Earth Day is celebrated on the 22nd April each year. This year marks the 5oth Anniversary of such an event. It is important to know and teach others especially the young ones, that taking care of the environment should be done everyday and not just on this day. The children should be reminded that when taking care of the environment, they are acting responsibly in protecting themselves, the nature and their families.

Dear children and families,
I would like to wish you a blessed Easter. I hope you will enjoy this day whilst eating your favourite Easter Sweet.
Love ♥
Ms. Krista

There is nothing wrong with being different from other individuals. All children are unique and special, and we need to make sure to accept and respect their differences by providing them equal opportunities and access to learning and play, amongst other rights.

All children need to be provided with the rights that they are entitled to, regardless their age, disabilities, skin colour, culture, ethnicity and other aspects of the children. Let’s all celebrate together each child’s individualities and uniqueness everyday, by providing them equal opportunities and access to learning and play, amongst other rights.

This approach builds on children’s motivation to learn whilst using play as a medium for learning. Through this approach, both the children and the teachers act as co-learners and partners. Play based learning approach stimulates children’s drive for exploration and discovery, whilst leading them to obtain an ownership of and mastery over their environment. Additionally, it allows the children to engage in higher order thinking skills such as, problem solving. This approach promotes positive attitudes to learning such as, curiosity, enthusiasm and persistence. Play based learning approach serves as a strong base for children’s later success at school. Throughout this year, the learning experiences provided will be based on this approach using play as the important tool for learning. Furthermore, children’s work, ideas and thoughts will be documented using the classroom environment as the third teacher and this blog. Through the photos and other material posted here, you are encouraged to discuss them with your children. This will allow the children to think about their thinking and learning (metacognition) and for you to engage in these learning processes.

I would like to give you a warm welcome to my blog. I will be regularly updating the blog by posting several photos of different learning experiences, educational videos and games and other educational material tackled in different projects, to extend your child’s learning and development at home. All of this can happen if we work together as partners. I hope this blog will be helpful enough and will encourage you to be part of it. I am very looking forward in building strong relationships with you and your children.

Hi, my name is Krista Salerno. I created this blog so as to facilitate the parents/guardians better in providing adequate learning experiences according to their children. I am an Early Years’ Educator, whom I am very interested in creating strong partnerships with the families for the betterment of their children. The posts I will be uploading, will include different educational videos, games and learning experiences (related to certain projects) that can be implemented with all children. My optimum aim is to encourage families to be engaged in this learning community and contribute towards children’s success. This blog can help all of the members within the communities to learn, grow and interact with one another. I encourage you all to provide any form of feedback, should you have any ideas or queries.
